Natsu e il suo gatto Happy giungono nella città di Harujion, dove si dice sia arrivato anche un famoso mago di nome Salamander. In realtà, Salamander è un impostore che sfrutta il nome di un altro mago per adescare le ragazze e farle schiave. Nella sua rete finisce anche Lucy, giovane aspirante maga che sogna di entrare a far parte della mitica congregazione denominata Fairy Tail. Insospettitosi del comportamento dell'impostore, Natsu interviene per salvare Lucy. Sta per aprirsi la Grande Festa dello Sport, evento a cadenza biennale che coinvolge tutti gli studenti del liceo. Yo e Asaoka decidono di sfidarsi per vedere chi riuscirà a collezionare il maggior numero di primi posti nelle varie gare. La sfida è molto seria per entrambi i contendenti, visto che il premio in palio è niente di meno che la possibilità di frequentare Haruna. La ragazza però, è all'oscuro di tutto. La sfida termina in favore del gruppo bianco, capitanato da Yo, e per un po' sembra tornare il sereno sulla vita della nostra coppietta preferita, che si ritrova però presto alle prese con le attenzioni soffocanti della famiglia di Haruna e con lo strano atteggiamento di una compagna di studi di Yo...
